Welcome to Day 2 of this SEL journey! The Arthlings are getting to know their feelings and emotions through games, art, and play!
In this instalment, they will learn to recognize different emotions as part of an emotions circuit!

PLANNING AND SETUP

The activity was divided into the following steps:

1. Emotions Circuit: Chits were prepared with movement prompts. Flashcards were printed with different emotions, and their corresponding expression. A chart was made with pictures of the educators making different expressions. Wooden blocks were kept ready for use.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Emotions Circuit: The children assembled to hear the rules of the game. After Sonai Didi explained the rules, the children set out in pairs.
At the first station, Drishti Didi helped the children choose chits of paper. On each chit was a different picture, showing how the Arthling needed to move. Depending on the chit, they had to crawl like a baby, slither like a snake, jump like a monkey, fly like a bird or walk like a panda!
At the second station, Sonai Didi was waiting with a charades game. She had a deck of flashcards with different expressions — happy, sad, angry, excited, or scared! She chose one flashcard at random and held it to her forehead, after which the Arthlings had to act out the expression for her to guess.
At the third station, Auindrilla Didi had a chart with the educators’ pictures. Each educator was making a different face in their photo. The children had to tap the correct educator according to the emotions Auindrilla Didi picked!
After the slide was the final station where the children had to make different expressions with blocks. The circuit ended with a high-five!
