Welcome to the second week of the ‘Christmas Carnival’ project at Arth Hours! The Arthlings got crafty last week and made stars, hats, snowmen, and more! In this week, they will jump headfirst into planning and event management!

PLANNING AND SETUP

The activity was divided into the following steps:

1. Making Christmas Carnival Invitations: Invitation cards were designed and printed. Stickers were created for the date, time and venue. Trays were prepared with the invitation cards, event stickers and photos of the children.

2. Choosing My Role: A chart was designed listing the names of all the carnival stalls. Another chart was created with a list of the job designations for the carnival. Photo stickers of the children were prepared for use.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Arthlings opened the class by decorating their Christmas tree! They split into three teams to attach bells, baubles, and stars to the tree’s branches.

Shivansh puts his decoration on the tree.

Ruhani focuses on decorating!

The children add shiny ornaments!

Making Christmas Carnival Invitations: In Small Group, the children prepared invitation cards to take home to their families. They added stickers for the date, time, and finally the venue — Arth Early Learning Spaces! They signed off the cards with their own photos. The children took time to address the cards to specific people: parents, grandparents, and friends.

Auindrilla Didi introduces the carnival invitation.

The children fill in the details on their cards.

Shivanshika picks her stickers.

Shivanshika peels a sticker for her card.

Vaanya carefully applies a sticker to her card.

Vaanya poses with her carnival invitation.

Arya shows the camera her invitation card.

Choosing My Role: The children gathered around Sonai Didi for more instructions! She explained that there would be seven stalls at the carnival, and that each stall would have three children in designated roles. The children set off towards the play area to mark their stalls and roles of preference using their sticker photos!

Sonai Didi explains what to do!

Vaanya and Meher decide their stalls.

Meher picks the coupon counter!

Arya picks the food stall.

OUTCOME AND FUTURE

This class was rich with real-world learning! The children were introduced to the idea of job designations, and even picked their own! The PBL method puts an emphasis on experiential learning that is relevant to the outside world. In the final class, we will see our little salespeople, packaging heads, and cashiers in action!
Stay tuned for the next episode of ‘Christmas Carnival’ at Arth Hours!
